Yes,I read it a few months ago, long before the nomination!
It was very moving, very emotional in places.I love any war time fiction so read it and enjoyed on that basis, but can recommend.

Quite fancy reading this, but had to think when I read some time last week that Rosie Alison is married to Tim Waterstone. Apparently she kept that fact a deep, dark secret when trying to sell her book, but the cynic in me still feels that sort of thing tends to get about. And it couldn't exactly hurt her chances of getting published!

Oh,didn't know that!
Yes,it is on some long list for an award.

Just finished it and am APPALLED and
I thought it was ghastly.
Pedestrian dull writing. All the BIG moments thrown away.
If this is what passes for prize winning literature then I give up.
Actually I'm quite angry and fail to see any merit or worth in it at all.
It read like inexperienced, immature writing. Endless expositionary flashbacks - no subtlety, no emotive similes.
Just dull dull DULL.

About half way through, enjoying it but not sure that it lives up to the praise it's had.
