Because I do. And I got Pandaemonium for Christmas and was very childishly excited by this. And it's fab.

I do, although wasn't fussed on pandaemonium tbh,but my sis liked it.

BitOfFunWithRudolph · 27/12/2009 22:39

Ooh, I haven't seen it yet- but yes, I love him. I met him at a signing for Snowball in Hell, and he did a really good reading and talk. He is fantastic.

Flame · 27/12/2009 22:42

Me Me!! TrillianAstra is too

I discovered him through MN book swaps - had 2 by him in them I'm working my way through in sequence now - I've done the first two with Angelique and the first one with the blokey (I am terrible at names - angelique is looking wrong too).

DH got me Pandaemonium for Christmas having just liked the back, then realised when he got home that it was the author I'd been wittering on about.

From reading the cover it seems that Pandaemonim is new stuff again - is that right? (Trying to work out if I can read it NOW or if the anal obsessive me is going to have to wait til I have read all the others)

SolidGoldpiginablanket · 27/12/2009 22:42

I think I will like it even more on second reading - like The Sacred Art of Stealing and Rubber Ducks, it reads better when you know what's going on.

I think I was the only one in the circle who read sacred art of stealing - everyone else read the first page or two and was

SolidGoldpiginablanket · 27/12/2009 22:44

Flame: Pandaemonium is kind of a new direction, so you don't have to have read any of the others.
My favourites, having read the lot, are probably Country Of The Blind and Attack of the Unsinkable Rubber Ducks. Though sometimes I think I like A Big Boy Did It best...

Yay! I got that one, Country of the Blind and another one for Christmas.

Jux · 27/12/2009 22:46

I've not got Pandaemonium yet, but I've got all the others. I wait for them to come out in paperback which is horrid, but worth it in the end.

Love his stuff. Favourite is probably Sacred Art of Stealing.

Flame · 27/12/2009 22:50

I hate hardbacks. DH was so excited though I need to remember not to mention hating hardbacks for a few months

Jux · 27/12/2009 22:59

at Flame

I'm lucky as dh hates hardbacks too, so we don't have to worry too much. I jsut wish tehy'd bring out the p'backs at the same time.

And CB does overwrite, but I don't care!

SolidGoldpiginablanket · 27/12/2009 23:10

Flame: Ooh, Kushiel's Dart! I really liked that and am pissed off that I managed to leave it on a night bus on about my third reading of it...

Book swap again Trillian is fabulous at picking good books. She mentioned it after we had been talking about the Merry Gentry ones

TheChewyToffeeMum · 04/01/2010 10:31

I too was v excited to find Pandaemnium in library - don't like it at all . Very over written. I am so disappointed as his earlier books have been really enjoyable esp Quite Ugly One Morning.

StanleyFletcher · 04/01/2010 11:01

I LOVE him! I have not read the new one yet and it will prob have to wait until I come back to the UK in the summer I think my favourite is 'A Big Boy Did it...', 'Country of the Blind' or... ohh bloody hell, I love all of them

GentleOtter · 04/01/2010 11:08

I love his books and my favourite was "One Fine Day" which made me cry laughing.

I might go on a Brookmyre binge seeing as we are snowed in and I'm going mental.

notyummy · 04/01/2010 11:12

He is GREAT! I grew up around many of the locations he describes, which adds to the appeal.

hannahsaunt · 04/01/2010 11:14

Me . Heard him at a book festival last year and he was fab.

Rindercella · 04/01/2010 11:16

Yes, me too! Haven't read any of his for a couple of years, but used to avidilly await any new release of his.

elkiedee · 04/01/2010 13:52

I like his work though have quite a few to catch up with so buy his books as soon as they come out in paperback.

Gentle, where are you snowed in?
