I did! I couldn't see what the fuss was about and couldn't warm to the characters.

Couldn't bear the lovely bones - now that was crap

Bucharest · 08/10/2009 11:10

Didn't hate it.
Didn't love it.
Wouldn't re-read it, or watch the film,
Couldn't be arsed working out how old he was supposed to be etc.
Just a bit meh really.

MintyCane · 08/10/2009 11:12

I hated it and I couldn't even get past the first page of lovely bones.

francaghostohollywood · 08/10/2009 11:24

Couldn't read past page 1 of The time etc etc, but that was ages ago. The Lovely Bones was crap.

freyski · 08/10/2009 16:12

Once I am 50 pages in I always finish a book no matter how dire, but this one beat me. After about 200 pages i was so bored I would have preferred stick two pencils up my nose and bang my head on the table than read anymore. I could'nt even be bothered to ask anyone else how it ended.

What Bucharest said.

Some people in book group loved it and said it made them cry.

MamiBabi · 08/10/2009 16:21

Pants - I didn't get past p50

nickytwotimes · 08/10/2009 16:25

I hated it too.
Didn't care what happened to the charagters.
B-O-R-I-N-G.
Sentimental rubbish.

Lilymaid · 08/10/2009 16:26

Over rated, over hyped and a load of tosh. I was so glad when he died, so it evoked no sympathy with the characters for me.

MrsJohnDeere · 08/10/2009 16:34

Didn't hate it but thought it was badly written twaddle and didn't give a toss what happened to the characters.

Tried twice because I thought I must be missing something.

walkthedinosaur · 08/10/2009 17:42

DH read it first, said it was great and I should read. I read it and hated it, I didn't like the older guy/younger girl thing, but as others have said they were just not very nice characters.

I have refused to see the film.

notunique · 08/10/2009 21:06

Nope, read it after the film came out and thought I'd do so just so that "I've read it". Couldn't see what the fuss was about and I can't say that I had much sympathy for any of the characters. Didn't like the way it was written, didn't like over usage of the c word either.

mollyroger · 08/10/2009 21:06

tried twice, hated it....
load of shite,

scottishmummy · 08/10/2009 21:18

will never get that time back
bag o shite

undervalued · 08/10/2009 21:42

I never did finish it -'twas too painful.

nighbynight · 08/10/2009 22:22

Loathed it so much on flipping through/reading the blurb that I havent read it.

piscesmoon · 08/10/2009 22:31

I don't understand how it made people cry! I weep fairly easily over books, but I only found it irritating.

Armi · 10/10/2009 22:57

Read most of it - wasn't overly bothered. Stopped reading because of the feet thing. Shudders

seasalt · 11/10/2009 00:40

Didn't enjoy it at all. Waste of time reading it.
