Oh my Word.

Best book that I have ever read.

I want to read it all again slowly, google the words that I dont understand, watch the film.

I couldnt put it down. Amazing.

I think it gets a bit of bad press on MN but I agree, I couldn't put it down either. Have you read his other one - 1000 splendid suns I think it is. V. gripping too.

It is beautiful isn't it. One of my all time faves too and SO upsetting. I can cry just thinking about it. Def read 1000 Splendid Suns too. I didn't love it as much as the Kite Runner but it is still an amazing book. Haven't seen the film though as am not sure I could bear it!

I really enjoyed it too. A really good read without being too trashy.

I'm pretty sure they're his only ones tho surely we're due another one at some point as it's been years since Thousand Splendid Suns was written!

With all that's going on currently, I found both books really interesting for understanding a bit about life in Afghanistan. As well as being gripping, well written stories.

I really liked the beginning, and the middle. Hated the end: facile, sensationalist, exploitative.

But many thousands of happy readers disagree with me!

Preferred Kite Runner, loved the film as well, but loved 1000 Splendid Suns too.

Very evocative, you felt like you were there, which if you are in rainy Lancashire in a newbuild house with 2.4 kids is no mean feat.

I read 1000 splendid suns before I read he Kite Runner and thought that that was brilliant also.

It does make you more aware of what is happening in Afghanistan, I must admit that I have been pretty ignorant to the plight of the people there, I found myself much more interested in Sky News this week, with its special reports from Afghanistan.

Would love to read more of his books (when he releases anymore)

I have only seen the film and that was incredible. Weep. I imagine the book is even better.

Loved both books, although I found them horribly upsetting. Agreed about how they give an insight into life in Afganistan and its history.

If you enjoyed The Kite Runner (which I did too) try The Bookseller of Kabul. It gives the female perspective on Afghanistan that completes the picture.

im halfway thought the bookseller of Kabul, its a great book to follow on from the other two. very enlightening on the current situation in Afghanistan.
