Need to buy a present for a nan, who likes reading historical romances that are 'a bit dirty' I have no clue, any authors I can find in waterstones easily would be good! She's into horror films, so not your average old lady style. Any ideas appreciated!

Your Nan and I share (rather bad) taste in books.

She would like-

The Crimson Petal and The white by Michel faber

The Other Boleyn Girl by Philipa Gregory

Neither are new releases but both are very good reads.

Happy Birthday Nan

Try some Diana Norman: The VIzard Mask is very good.

Hi there,

My mum had asked me to get some books from ebay/amazon as she'd read some reviews or something.

One of them was Destiny, by Sally Beauman. When it came I thought it was just your usual historical saga, and flicked idly through it.

It was so raunchy-shocking even for me-as it was so unexpected-I had to read every page though

I couldn't let my mum to read it-75 year old traditional and very religious Indian lady bless her, so I made out I couldn't find it anywhere.

Might be be up your nan's street?

They sound about right, will look them up tomorrow, might have to wear a disguise - a bit more forethought and I could have ordered off amazon without anyone knowing! American Psycho is one of her favourite films- blood, violence and sex scenes too! There was a series that followed a family through the generations she was into but I can't remember the author. That Diana Norman looks promising on amazon. She's 79 tomorrow, I hope to be as lively as she is when I get there!

Mary Balogh certainly startled me!

Point of Honour by Madeleine E Robins as well.

My great aunt a big fan of Julie Garwood - (Saving Grace & Honors Splendour were the last two I got her based on Amazon reviews) and Judith McNaught.

Also Lisa Kleypas & Stephanie Laurens are historically set but quite "roarty" - my GA's word

hophophippidtyhop · 25/05/2009 22:24

those sound good, heated. I think she might have had some kleypas as it says about a family called hathaway on amazon that think she's talked about. This will save me time trawling the books tomorrow!

Hi there! Diana Gabaldon Jamie Fraser saga without a doubt! There are 6 books in total and they're based in Scotland! You fall in love with Jamie for sure! I am not the only one that says so!
