Hiya,

I like the sound of both of them, but can only afford the one.

Has anyone read them? Which did you prefer?

Thanks

I LOVE The Stand.

IT gave me a fear of clowns and nightmares for about 6 months. I was only a young teen when I read it.

Thanks, I ordered The stand yesterday so waiting for it to come later this week. I really enjoyed The Cell, and The Dark Towers (poor ending I thought).

Anything else I should look out for?

Hearts In Atlantis
Bag of Bones
The Talisman
The Black House (follows on from The Talisman)
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon
Nightmares & Dreamscapes (book of short stories)
Different Seasons
The Green Mile

These are the ones that I always go back to, enough to be going on with?

appledore · 27/04/2009 09:10

I have The Green Mile on my iPod at the moment. Fab listening to him reading his own stories.

purepurple · 27/04/2009 09:16

appledore, that sounds great

shivermetimbers · 27/04/2009 09:27

Misery is a good read.

jofeb04 · 27/04/2009 09:35

Thanks for the books! I really enjoyed the Green Mile as well!

Going to look on Amazon (may be a while)

if you like King you might also like Dean Koontz

jofeb04 · 27/04/2009 10:19

I've read quite a few of Dean Koontz!

The Tommyknockers was cool

purepurple · 27/04/2009 11:27

Do you all agree that The Green Mile is the best film adaptation of one of his stories?
Oh,and The Shawshank Redemption of course.
I am always a bit disappointed by films of the books, even The Shining, which was a brilliant film, but I thought the Tv adaptation on a few yeras ago was much more accurate.

LtEveDallas · 27/04/2009 11:59

Kerry, have you read the Talisman Book 2 - Black House - I thought that was superb too (except the ending )

TwoIfBySea · 27/04/2009 12:16

The Stand has always been my favourite Stephen King book.

purepurple · 27/04/2009 12:19

Have to say I was dissappointed by Cell
I thought he was just trying to rewrite the stand with a modern twist
but I forgive him, after his accident.

tillyfernackerpants · 27/04/2009 12:27

I was disappointed with Lisey's Story & haven't been able to get into Duma Key at all (though will keep trying!). I do forgive him after his accident, its obviously taken up a huge part of his life now & comes through in pretty much everything he's written since!

I enjoyed The Black House the 2nd or 3rd time I read it

Purepurple, The Shawshank Redemption is one of the best film adaptations. Stand By Me as well (The Body), though some of it is lost in translation it's still a good film

minesacheeseandpicklesandwich · 27/04/2009 12:28

Another vote for The Talisman and Black House. There's supposed to be a third coming out and I hope it's soooooon..........

Mumcentreplus · 27/04/2009 13:04
