Stephen King - The Stand or It?

Hiya,

I like the sound of both of them, but can only afford the one.

Has anyone read them? Which did you prefer?

I LOVE The Stand.

IT gave me a fear of clowns and nightmares for about 6 months. I was only a young teen when I read it.

Thanks, I ordered The stand yesterday so waiting for it to come later this week. I really enjoyed The Cell, and The Dark Towers (poor ending I thought).

Anything else I should look out for?

Do you all agree that The Green Mile is the best film adaptation of one of his stories?
Oh,and The Shawshank Redemption of course.
I am always a bit disappointed by films of the books, even The Shining, which was a brilliant film, but I thought the Tv adaptation on a few yeras ago was much more accurate.

Have to say I was dissappointed by Cell
I thought he was just trying to rewrite the stand with a modern twist
but I forgive him, after his accident.

I was disappointed with Lisey's Story & haven't been able to get into Duma Key at all (though will keep trying!). I do forgive him after his accident, its obviously taken up a huge part of his life now & comes through in pretty much everything he's written since!

I enjoyed The Black House the 2nd or 3rd time I read it

Purepurple, The Shawshank Redemption is one of the best film adaptations. Stand By Me as well (The Body), though some of it is lost in translation it's still a good film

HUGE Ste King fan here and the stand is my all time favorite book,closely followed by Insomnia!
