Something along the lines of Woman in Black or something like the film The others.

Thanks

In fact I think the whole something tapping on the window wanting to be let in is THE scariest premise for a story, particualrly if it's children's ghosts...

binkie · 27/04/2005 15:34

Henry James

and I meant (a) Deborah Kerr and (b) Ian Bostridge, not Jonathan at all

suzywong · 27/04/2005 15:34

checked IMDB did ya Binkie?

Amberlilli · 27/04/2005 15:36

OOh! Suzywong you would luurrve The book I just recommended, it is just like that really creepy, scary, jumpy!!!

binkie · 27/04/2005 15:36

parding? imdb, whassat?

Marina · 27/04/2005 15:36

Ian Bostridge was born to play that role. He really is a scary-looking, half-dead looking guy! Have you seen him anguishing his way through Winterreise Binkie?

suzywong · 27/04/2005 15:40

Internet Movie Database, gets you ALL the details of all your favourite films, it's wonderful see

I just thought you may have looked up that chap on that site, I use it all the time

binkie · 27/04/2005 15:41

no, not yet ... suspect I might anguish too. Partial to cheekbones

alexw · 27/04/2005 15:43

How about Barbara Erskine House of Echoes - it really spooked me!!

Marina · 27/04/2005 15:43

I'm more of a Simon Keenlyside gal myself, after seeing him prance his way through Orfeo a couple of years ago in not a great deal of clothing [phwoarrr emoticon]. Always been a pushover for a well-toned baritone!

Marina · 27/04/2005 15:43

Sorry, that was a ridiculous hijack

suzywong · 27/04/2005 15:44

so that's two votes for Barbara Erskine then?

bundle · 27/04/2005 15:46

marina, he was in the Observer food section the other week, pretending he ate normal things like steak n chips. nonsense, he needs a good feed!

suzywong · 27/04/2005 15:47

I'm going to have to google images this Simon fella now, he'd better be worth it

Kayleigh · 27/04/2005 15:49

LOL @ Marina . Feeling a bit frisky love ????

suzywong · 27/04/2005 15:49

but bundle he looks postively burly here

pixiefish · 27/04/2005 15:50

the hannibal books will have you scared

suzywong · 27/04/2005 15:51

yes read all those, the Gary Oldman character in Hannibal was a reall let down wasn't he?, didn't have his facical skin missing for one thing

bundle · 27/04/2005 15:53

noooo, i was talking about Bostridge (lives in NW5 btw)

suzywong · 27/04/2005 15:54

oh I geddit

sorry, it's been wine-o-clock here for some time now

bundle · 27/04/2005 15:55

red or white?

suzywong · 27/04/2005 15:56

a local cabernet merlot actually, since you ask

Marina · 27/04/2005 15:56

I think he must mean he looks at pictures of steak and chips, he is positively etiolated. One of those hateful Renaissance types who is brainy AND artistically gifted. Looks like he has donated his body fat ration to Simon Russell Beale, another infuriatingly clever man.
Ho ho Kayleigh! My sap must be rising Must banish images of Simon and think of Robert Robinson instead.

binkie · 27/04/2005 15:56

oh, doesn't look spooky in that pic at all, bit disappointing, looks a bit wet really

before you all think I have bad taste, Peter Quint is evil evil so when you have something smoulderingly cheekboned being terrifying at the back of a huge black stage set it is quite effective

binkie · 27/04/2005 15:58

sorry, being silently terrifying

I should just go away now, shouldn't I?
