Have you got any books that if you mention them that people don't seem to have heard of it??

For me, it is 'Danny Yates Must Die' by Stephen Walker.

Oooh, or a book I had as a child... 'The Rare Spotted Birthday Party'.

Maybe if we list our unknown books here we will find someone else who's heard of them!!!!

I'm sooooo glad other MNetters have heard of Anne Marie McD! No one round here has, except the one friend i mentioned. It's funny how she doesn't seem to feature anywhere in book reviews, in shop promos and so on. I think she must be a bit like Barbara Kingsolver, who seems to have become well known by word-of-mouth.

Anyway, I've got AM MacD's second book on my shelf, Tamum.

Hausfrau... halfway through and loving it .

Boy asked if it was good just as I started laughing out loud. Did have weird dreams about DD calling me Uy because all the m's had gone

Finished. Was great - slightly insane, but great.

God yes!
Some book I had as a kid (mid 70s)..lonely brother and sister coming across an old couple living in a time warp, dressing in an old fashioned way, surrounded by gloomy furniture.Only thing I remember is that one of them was called Pilar.
I so wish I could find it again.

Did anyone else read The Hairdressers of St Tropez? The narrator was a dog and there was a big conspiracy theory about forest fires. Maybe it was one of my dreams??

I've read Ella Minnow Pea -- in fact, it was a discussion book on Abebooks about a year ago.

Has anyone else heard of Elizabeth Pewsey? She wrote the very funny Mountjoy novels about a bunch of amoral toffs set in the 1970s - is it just me and my mum that have read her?
