Have just been re-reading the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, and had forgotten how much they made me giggle. Tried to explain to DH what was so funny but he just looked bemused. Which books have made you laugh?

Notes from a big country - Bryson. Brilliant.

Lots of Terry Prachett.

Can't think of anything else right now.

Marley. (The one about the dog )It made me laugh out loud and cry in equal measure. A great book full of emotion and now they're going to bring out the film! Can't wait though it probably won't be as good as the book.

Bill Bryson, every time. Have also embarrassed myself in public while reading his stuff. I adore him.

Pete Mccarthy

Yes Man by Danny Wallace had some funny bits, Tony Hawks too

Bill Bryson's 'Notes from a Small Island' made me laugh out loud many a time.

Roddy Doyle's Barrytown trilogy (The Committments, The Snapper, The Van) is ace too.

And Adrian Mole of course!

Ivykate, it was Derec's mum and the long legged cat in Lost For Words that made me really laugh out loud.

India Knight always makes me roar-even when she's just writing about the best place to buy control pants.

I had to stop taking her books on the Tube, for fear of shaming myself with my mirth-induced snorts and tears.

'Giggling in the shrubbery'- a collection of memories by 'Old Girls' from boarding school. Absolutely priceless.

Some bits of Maureen Lipman's books- but I have to be in the right mood.

James Herriot- especially Cedric the farting boxer!!

And am also a big Bill Bryson fan.
