Refund for a stroller

My mum purchased a stroller from Toys r Us, 2 days ago, it wasn't suitable. My mum couldn't find the receipt, I took it back and they were quite happy to give me a credit note, fine. However, paid £29.99 and still on the shop floor for £29.99, TrUs wanted to give me £24.99 as it was on sale over 4 weeks ago!!

Is this legal!! shock This doesn't seem fair...

Sounds like a great novel

Not fair, but without a receipt I think it's perfectly legal

I believe they have to refund you the current selling price.
so if it's £29.99 in the shop right now then that's what you should have been given back

was it just not suitable or faulty? they don't have to do anything at all unless it's faulty

er you're in the wrong topics ! Technically they don't have to refund at all, as simply being unsuitable isn't a legal criteria for offering one. However their logic in determining the amount seems less than reasonable unless you said roughly when it had been purchased. Does your mum have nay proof of purchase (bank statement , cc statement ?) to show otherwise ?

exactly, which is why you should be refunded the current selling price. not the lowest it's ever been.
