Twilight - there is so much wrong with it but why am I itching to buy the second one?

Can someone explain this phenomenon to me?

My 11-year-old niece persuaded me to read this book last weekend and I haven't been able to put it down since. Why? I don't know! Has this book had the same effect on anyone else? Do I just want to be 17 and fall in love again? Not that I met many vampires at my school.

I think the fact that the love is unconsummated has a lot to do with it, doesn't it? Fleur, I think dh would think I had lost my reason if I bought that!

Fleurlechaunte · 01/02/2009 22:52

Oh I wouldn't dare buy it. I am in my thirties fgs, no-one would ever take me seriously again. Just thought your daughter might like to take a look Evenstar.

Fleurlechaunte · 01/02/2009 23:00

Ok, well maybe I would but I would keep it well hidden, only coming out at night .

Evenstar · 02/02/2009 00:03

I would have one if they weren't so expensive and I am older than you Fleur

Oh my love the blanket! I am 150 pages into book 2 and I am now officially obsessed. My heart is broken too. I am 18 again when my boyfriend ditched me for my best friend (not quite the same I know but the feelings are the same).

Fleurlechante I agree with what you say about her writing. You really do see the characters and the scenes very vividly. So there must be something good in her writing.

I was reading Stephanie Meyer's website last night and she wrote the first book in 6 months and she had children and stuff too. So there's hope for the rest of us

Right time to take DS1 to school in the lovely snow. I just wish I could go in Edward's lovely silver car with Edward next to me of course. DH might not be too happy about that though.

I read twilight after my stepdaughter said i should (shes 15) i thought it started slow and not the greatest written but was totally hooked on edward and bella.
I found myself grinning like a cheshire cat at points and my dp thinks i have gone mad!

i finished the book after about 3 days just couldnt put it down and then got the second book which i have just finished today i was quite dissapointed with the lack of the "cullens" i found the whole jacob thing dull and was very happy it ended with them back together. Im def camp edward! going out 2mrw to get 3rd book as my sd assures me its better than the 2nd.

An although i dont think its the greatest written i absolutley love the way she describes everthing in great detail, i feel like i know where, when, and what everthing looks like so she obviously has great talent.! will def be reading all the books. Im looking forward to seeing the movie also apparently it is very close to the book which will be good and they are in the making of the 2nd books movie so i will def be following!

OK - so I know I got shouted down for saying Edward was actually a very boring parent-friendly perfect boyf dullard...but he's played by the Tri-Wizard loser from Harry Potter?!

No, that's it, sorry. Iridescent skin or not, he's still spotty.

Look away now if you would prefer your Twilight un-mocked...

I've 20 pages from the end of the second book and deciding whether I need a break from Edward and Bella by reading 'a different book' or whether to go ahead and read the third book straight away. Not sure yet!

I'm close to the end of the second and have got the third one ready - there is no way I can take a break now!

BeckyBendyLegs · 08/02/2009 14:59

Yeah I have also started the third one. I did think about taking a break but couldn't imagine it. I want to find out what happens next!
