Did anybody NOT sob towards the end of "The Book Thief"?

What an excellent, terrible book. How much loss can a single person (child!) stand and not go mad??
BTW, do you find you cannot cope with even fictious cruelty to children since you had kids?

Sniff re earthquake. No you're right. Except that I am worst book critic ever, I never think why I like/don't like smthg. Maybe I should.

Sniff re earthquake?

You must be like my mum. She cries if someone mentions the word "crying"

ClaraDeLaNoche · 12/02/2009 18:12

Cote - let it out. Go on. Stop bottling up and cry me a river.

Mummyfor3 · 12/02/2009 22:02

Oh, you may well mock, you two!
Ok, I may suffer from empathy overdrive, however things like this did and do happen and THAT is what got to me, so sue me .

Ahh, now I understand: it was all to much to you; you protesteth too much.

Mfor3 - I know I am a messer but I was not joking when I said I howled at that book. I love a good weep though.

Obviously you are not alone, for this silly book has made it into the Bestsellers list.

That doesn't mean it was a great book, of course, but that it caters to the lowest common denominator. And that is very... low.
