I know on amazon you can buy books as little as 1p! So i went crazy and picked 14, mainly womens modern fiction and then a few for dh and a few for ds. However on getting to check out realised i had to pay 14 amounts of postage as they were all diff people selling them! Is there a website that would do the above and only pay one postage? Not ebay as same problem!

Try abebooks - I've got hold of a lot of books from there, both for me and for my mum too.

try readitswapit

Books are free for postage, but you have to swap old ones of yours back.

sunnygirl1412 · 11/11/2008 16:16

Wow, StripeyKnickers - I am going to go and look at that site!! Sounds like just what I've been looking for.

Thanks.

mad4mybaby · 11/11/2008 16:55

sunnygirl, it doesnt seem to be that you buy from one seller on that one....

stripeyknickers, do you have to have books ready to send back to them before you order? Can you send the same ones back??

You're right, mad4mybaby - I've just checked that - and should have checked before I posted - sorry!!

You do need to have books ready.

If you find a book you want you have to swap directly with that person. The swap only happens if they want one of your books.

bookmooch is great as you don't have to swop books directly.

It works on a points basis and you get points for listing your books on your inventory, for sending books to people (more if you send overseas). Then you spend points to get books. You don't pay for postage when you get books, only when you send them.

Here it is

Greenmetropolis used to be great.

I htink all books were about £3.50.

I love Read it Swap it though, it is such a good idea.

wotulookinat · 11/11/2008 19:26

I use www.swapshop.co.uk

mad4mybaby · 11/11/2008 19:33

any sites that i DONT have to SWAP books anyone?

OP posts:
wotulookinat · 11/11/2008 19:55

Have you actually looked at any of the sites? On swapshop you don't HAVE to put any of your stuff up to swap - you can buy points through Paypal (1 point is 1 pence) and then 'buy' books using the points - postage is free.

mad4mybaby · 11/11/2008 22:11

Ladies, RISI (read it swap it) is priced as a 2nd class postage for any parcel u wanna swap with.

I am also known as Nuttymum303 on there if u ever wanna know stuff. We also have meet ups for meals and a walk around towns. You can also bring ur babies if u fancy it.

Please think about using your public library to read modern fiction rather than buying secondhand.

If you buy secondhand the author gets not one single penny for you reading her work (which might have taken a year or so to write). IF you go to the library and get a book out for free, the author gets a small amount of money via the Public Lending Right--it's only pennies, but it can make a difference.

The average earnings for a newish novelist are just £6000 per annum...

Soprana · 12/11/2008 08:41

yes, Amazon has second hand stuff...

Soprana · 12/11/2008 08:41
