Has anyone got a big pile like me lol

Read quite a few recently so haven't got too many in my reading pile at the moment.

I do have another 37 books on my Amazon wish list but promised myself that I wouldn't purchase anymore till I finished the ones I already bought.

"Oryx And Crake" was recommended on that thread though, iirc - I've just started it and am really liking it.

Talking of reading piles...I get told off by DH for having such a large reading pile. I have about 30 books at the mo so won't list them all (I think 37 was my all time record). Thing is, they do all get read and I just love that pleasure of finishing a book and having to choose a new one from my reading pile. Bliss. Does anyone else get grief about this?

Becky...totally get it. I have a bookcase full of books at the moment. I bought about 50 over the summer, mostly from carboots and charity shops, and they're sat waiting for me to get round to them. I lurve books. Lurve the smell of em...the look of em...the promise of em.

It's like having a calendar of hunky men, looking at them every day knowing that you could actually have a pop at them, if you wanted to, but actually enjoying the thought of them more than the deed...if that makes sense!

Or maybe this throat infection is affecting my mental state more than I'd thought!

I've just finished Salley Vickers, Instances of the Number 3, which was good (though not as good as Miss Garnett's Angel imo) and a weird book called Four Mothers, by Shifra Horn, very much in the style of Isabel Allende...long winded and bonkers but vaguely satisfying!).

Can you tell there's nothing on the box that's grabbing me tonight? And my Sky plus is broken, so I haven't got anything taped to fall back on.

I don't feel so bad now with my meagre 30-odd books. I might even tell DH about this thread so he gets off my back about my 'addiction to book shops' and 'phobia of running out of books' I quote.

There is nothing on TV is there? We watched the last ever Grange Hill tonight as I recorded it earlier. It had to be done.

I missed it but am hoping to catch it on iplayer at some point.

Ypu've got a real mixed bag there. I really enjoyed "Sumarai William"; "Perfume"; "The American Boy"; "Notes from An exhibition"(except the ending);
"American Gods" and "The Historian" - and you're in for a real treat with "Northanger Abbey"!
