So what are you reading? Would you recommend it?

I'm currently half way through The Book Thief. Took a few chapters to get into it but now really enjoying it.

The Sisterhood by Emily Barr.

ive just finished the woman in the fifth this morning would like to read another book by douglas kennedy but i havent got one

i should probably read a book i have that i havent finished or started

there are a few i might reread

love for lydia by he bates and because the woman on the fifth made me think of it crime and punishment

but i will probably succumb to temptation and get something else

i havent finished the meaning of night which i abandoned ages ago or cryptonomicon which i got stuck or not sufficiently started with..that is a long book

Just read a classic detective novel by Raymond Chandler - The Long Goodbye. Very good.

And the Life and Times of Michael K by J.M Coetzee, very good also.

I usually have at least a couple on the go. Finished 'The Kite Runner' last night and loved it. Have started 'How the Mind Works' by Steven Pinker. Am debating whether to read a Douglas Kennedy my friend lent me next (I haven't read him before) or 'The Bookseller of Kabul' since I seem to be in Afghanistan mode.

Oh does Emily Barr have a new one out?! I usually love hers. Except the last one set in France. That was disappointing. Maybe they have become a little formulaic. she's under pressure always to have a twist.

I just finished "promise not to tell" by Jennifer McMahon, an American writer. I realy enjoyed it. It was part whodunnit, part ghost story, part coming of age... and it just hinted at the beginning of a love story too.

Nearly finished Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
Took about 100 pages to grip me, but recommend keeping going. It's absorbing and a fascinating insight/document into he Biafran/Nigerian conflict.

I am reading Engleby by Sebastian Faulkes.

It's completely different to any of his other novels.Would really recommend it.

I haven't read 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' yet, but definitely plan to. As you can see, I'm a bit behind the times.

I am re-discovering teenage angst (albeit slightly supernatural and certainly nothing like my teenage years!) by reading the Twighlight books by Stephanie Meyer. They are very good in an easy to read, escapist way!

I've just finished The Siege of Krishnapur by J G Farrell, which is for my bookclub (chosen after one member had been watching the Booker of Bookers). Just started Red Seas Under Red Skies, which is the second Locke Lamora book by Scott Lynch.

Just finished 'A wife in the North'. Depressing, badly-written, self-indulgent tosh!

Going to read the Bill Bryson book about Shakespeare next.

town like alice have you seen the film

i saw it the first time when i was very little on my grandmas tv in wales and it left a big impression..it is a real tear jerker

i read the book again a few years ago i recommend it

Finished Temptation by Douglas Kennedy. Good

Red Dust. Very good.

Now reading Private battles by Simon Garfield, set during WW2. Is good, but takes a while to get into as is 4 people's diary entries.

Thousand Suns was great.

reading 'The guernsey literary and potato peel pie society' which is good if a little whimsy so far

Just finished Sophie Hannah's The Point of Rescue. I thought it was fantastic.

Jeffery Deaver - Broken Window - love it, as I do all of his Lincoln Rhyme series.

Peter Robinson's latest Inspector Banks...

Re-reading Edmund Crispin. Finished Swan Song a couple of days ago and into The case of the Gilded Fly. Old 1940's detective novels. Love them and the whole other world of 70 years ago
