I am going through a phase of reading books about the royal family.

I have read:

Entitled and also The Traitor King by Andrew Lownie.

The Palace Papers and also Diana by Tina Brown.

Lady in Waiting by Anne Glenconner

Betrayal by Tom Bower

Ordered but not yet started Elizabeth II by Robert Hardman.

Any other recommendations please?

You seem to have a great selection there, but I really enjoyed The Palace Papers. Tina Brown is a very good writer.

Alice. Can’t remember the authors name. About Phillip’s mother. Would say it was more on the fictional/ story side, but all the facts are there. Is it Hugo Vickers?

’Unruly - David Mitchell

It tells you the history of all the kings and queens right from the start. I found it a little difficult to get into to, but really enjoyed it once it got going. It makes sense of all the names, battles, events that occurs in British history, and links them altogether.

I enjoyed Entitled by Andrew Lownie. But would not recommend it on Audible. The man can’t read!

It's not a biography as such but Gone with the Windsors by Laurie Graham is very good and funny.

The narrator, an American, is fictional but the other characters were real people. It is told in the form of a diary and deals with the period when Wallis Simpson and the Prince of Wales were 'carrying on' and their marriage.

A nice light, well-written and well researched read that will make you smile.

I've also just opened Fashioning the Crown, which is-as the title suggests-about royal fashion but also lots of biography in there as well, from Edwardian up to the 1960s. It's by Justine Picardie so I'm really looking forward to falling into it.

I would like to read a non sycophantic book on the Royals.
Can you hear me Penny Junor, Charles Cheerleader in Chief.
I’ll give the suggestions above a try.

Ma'am Darling by Craig Brown - about Princess Margaret. Interesting and funny.
