I’m looking for recommendations for next read?
Recent reads I’ve enjoyed are Piranesi, by Susanna Clarke, Kingkiller chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss and Ocean at the end of the lane by Neil Gaimon.

Anything with a similar vibe?
Found all of these beautiful and easy reading TIA ☺️

I loved Piranesi and haven't read anything quite like it. The thing it made me think of most was Plato.

I like Italo Calvino a lot. There is something of mystery and structure that his work shares with Piranesi. My favourite is 'The Baron in the Trees', but the 'The Castle of Crossed Destinies' is perhaps closer to Piranesi in feel.

Short stories by Borges might also be a good next read.

jonathan strange and mr norrell is the obvious next one if you liked piranesi.

have you read Gormenghast? That has a similar gothic atmosphere.

Thanks for the replies! I will check these out,

I have read Jonathan Strange and Mr Norell, which I really enjoyed but also found it needed a bit more time as it was a bit more involved with the length and all the footnotes etc.

Which is fine but depends on what mood I’m in

The starless sea by Erin Morgenstern. I found it had a similar atmosphere to Piranesi. A secret underground world, magical realism and a central character on a quest to make sense of it all. Relly enjoyed it.

Ooh, Same author as the Night circus which I enjoyed very much, so this could be a great shout! Thanks ☺️
