A long shot - finding a book with very limited information

I was in a book shop the other day and one of the book sellers recommended a book; it was in the course of conversation and I suddenly got distracted afterwards and cannot remember the title, author or why it was recommended

It was a chunky paperback (so maybe 500+ pages) and the cover was a greyish-blue shade, quite plain and maybe with red or pink small print on it. The author or title may have included Lucy or Luck and/or Duck

We had been discussing Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susannah Clarke, which might be relevant (the book was not The Ladies of Grace Adieu btw; it might not even be that genre)

Sorry to be so imprecise but if anyone can think of what it could be, I’d be extremely grateful!

I'm guessing Ducks, Newburyport by Lucy Ellmann.

YES! Thank you - that’s great 👍🏼

Looking at the blurb I remember now we were talking about unusual styles of writing (hence the ref to Jonathan Strange - as well as the length) I see it was Booker short-listed but I’d never heard of it - or her - before

I’m very tempted as I could use a long read and something a bit different
