A long shot - finding a book with very limited information

I was in a book shop the other day and one of the book sellers recommended a book; it was in the course of conversation and I suddenly got distracted afterwards and cannot remember the title, author or why it was recommended

It was a chunky paperback (so maybe 500+ pages) and the cover was a greyish-blue shade, quite plain and maybe with red or pink small print on it. The author or title may have included Lucy or Luck and/or Duck

We had been discussing Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susannah Clarke, which might be relevant (the book was not The Ladies of Grace Adieu btw; it might not even be that genre)

Sorry to be so imprecise but if anyone can think of what it could be, I’d be extremely grateful!

Looking at the blurb I remember now we were talking about unusual styles of writing (hence the ref to Jonathan Strange - as well as the length) I see it was Booker short-listed but I’d never heard of it - or her - before

I’m very tempted as I could use a long read and something a bit different
