Books to read comfortably in bed

Trying to get back into reading as an older adult and currently reading and enjoying Dancing by the Light of the Moon, Gyles Brandreth. Trouble is it's hard to read in bed as quite chunky and heavy and can't 'fold' one side back to get clear vision when lying down.

Any recommendations for books I might read?

And I do want to use my Kindle as wanting to avoid screens.

I was going suggest a Kindle as it’s back-lit and light to hold! Also, I don’t really see it as screen time as it’s reading a book, rather than doom-scrolling or playing games.

Does reading a kindle count as screen time though? Mine is a Paperwhite and it’s never entered my head that I shouldn’t be reading it before bed.

Paperback Agatha Christie novels? Paperback Bill Bryson? Jeeves and Wooster?

Get yourself to a charity shop and choose some small paperbacks!

Why not listen to audiobooks? Having Stephen Fry read me P G Wodehouse or Sherlock Holmes or Oscar Wilde is close to heaven.

Kindles aren't screens. They look exactly the same as paper, don't have blue light, notifications or other distractions and are much easier to hold and read in bed, so the perfect solution. Don't overthink it.

Ooh. I hate audiobooks as a rule, but that sounds heavenly.

Get a V shaped pillow to prop yourself up

Is your Kindle a kindle e-reader or a kindle tablet? They are very different beasts. I can't stand reading on a tablet or my phone for any length of time because it kills my eyes, but my kindle paperwhite is a dedicated e-reader and is fine for that. It's also really good if you're on holiday, in hospital, or ill because it's very lightweight and you don't have to fret about deciding what to take with you!

Dappy777 of course, audibooks. Will see what my local library has for free.

Thanks all.
