I am struggling to choose my next audio book.

I've just listened to two Rosamund Pilcher books and enjoyed the storylines and gentleness of them but think I need a change before another one.
I also like the usual Sophie Kinsella type books, Marian Keyes, Lisa Jewell,...

I've recently enjoyed:
The Wedding People
The Names
Blue Sisters
Julie Tudor is not a Psychopath
The Cactus
The Women
The Nightingale
The Woman in Coach D
Tom Lake
The People on Platform 5

Any ideas much appreciated. Thank you!

I have just finished Before the Coffee gets Cold and the Healing Season of Pottery. Really lovely books.

It might not be your thing, but pure bliss for me is listening to Stephen Fry read P. G. Wodehouse.

Another all-time favourite is Michael Maloney reading Evelyn Waugh’s Decline and Fall. He also did a brilliant recording of Aldous Huxley’s Chrome Yellow.

The Fellowship of Puzzlemakers.

The Library of Lost and Found by Phaedra Patrick. Downloaded the audiobook from the library app. I found it was gentle, engaging and enjoyable.

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
None Of This Is True by Lisa Jewell

Great audiobooks

Following. It might not be your taste but I’ve just listened to Animal Farm by George Orwell and I’m currently listening to The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.

Have you tried Fiona Walker? Similar to Marian Keyes. She's also got a new series "village detective" which is a bit of a crossover of chick lit and cosy crime.

All Matt Cain’s books are great
Frank and Red by Matt Coyne
Little Wing by Freya North

GinJeanie · 08/02/2026 05:04

Green Dot and Close Family by Madeleine Gray

OneHundredDays · 08/02/2026 06:11

Miss Buncle's Book by D E Stevenson. It's an old book, from the 1930's, Very gentle, charming and warm hearted, and the audible narration is excellent.

@Dazedandconfus I have listened to about 3/4 of those books too. You would love ‘Don’t let him in’ by Lisa Jewell if you haven’t already read. It’s her most recent one and brilliantly narrated by the actor Richard Armitage. I’d love it to be made into a TV series.

I also loved ‘The giver of stars’ by jojo moyes. I listened to The Women a few weeks ago and really liked the narrator’s voice and thought it sounded familiar so I looked it up and the Giver of Stars is narrated by the same person.

What a brilliant thread. Thank you!

My favourite easy listening audiobooks are anything by Georgette Heyer.

Do you know about the Libby, BorrowBox & ULibrary apps? If you’re a member of your local library & they’re signed up to any of them then you can use them to borrow audiobooks.

Anything by Lucinda Riley.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 08/02/2026 08:06

The Mysterious Affair Of Judith Potts (The Marlow Murder Club Mysteries, Book 5) by Robert Thorogood.

I have just started this. I know Marlow and surrounding area very well, so really enjoy these lighthearted books.

Thank you! We obviously have similar taste as I have also read Don't let him in and loved it!
Plus also read the Giver of Stars which was great. 😊

@Dazedandconfus ok well I am following this thread even more closely in that case. One that I kept seeing everywhere with great reviews Is ‘my friends’ . I am just about 1/4 of the way through and am enjoying it. Don’t tell me - you’ve read it!

I am really enjoying 'We Solve Murders' written by Richard Osman, and read by my absolute favourite actess Nicola Walker.
Also highly recommend 'A Watermelon, A Fish And A Bible' written by Christy Lefteri and read by Art Malik.

Welcome to Glorious Tuga and Island Calling. I’ve read and loved the same books as you.
