Where to sell books?

I have a lot of brand new books that I've received as presents that I don't want. I usually just send books into the charity shop, but thinking a couple of pounds per book might be useful at this time of year. I tried the we buy books app and they were giving 27p per book. Is it worth putting the job lot on Facebook? Or any other suggestions?

World of Books sent DPD on a named day. We packed into a grocery box (or two). Collection is free. All linked to the ‘trade’.

I've posted a code above which will give an extra £5. MM6C797033

I've ‘encouraged’ my partner to buy from WoB’s…although we got nearly £25 back, I didn't total up what he had spent in the first place! Just pleased to have a clear floor!

I don't have grocery boxes, or any type of boxes. Can you hand them over in a bag for life, or do they have to be packed in a specific way? For WBB the box had to be certain dimensions, meaning I'd probably spend as much on the box as I'd get back.

No, we just picked up ‘any’ box from the supermarket. It doesn't have to be a certain size and can be more than one box.

Might do that then. Although I've had a bit of a change of heart - some books I ordered from Awesome Books arrived today and they are filthy. I assumed they'd be Amazon used quality, but these are more 1980 second hand bookshop material. It pains me to sell my brand new books for 37p!

When you can buy a wide range of kindle books for 99p and books for £2-£3 in a charity shop, it’s not too surprising that you can’t get much for them when selling to someone who will sell them on.

Yes that's very true. It still hurts though!

Perhaps take a different view..

I've come to see my DH’s book-buying habit as an investment in enjoyment rather than an item with lasting monetary value.
He gets so much pleasure from reading that whatever happens to the book’s resale value doesn’t matter—the experience is the real return.

After all, we don’t expect money back after paying to go to the cinema.

The £24 we got back was simply a bonus—an easy way to clear some space and make sure the books were reused instead of wasted.

Vinted for books is ok - my son is selling some of the books he’s grown out of and they’ve been pretty popular but not got masses for them.

Give them to you local library they will be appreciated!

Agreed. We’re clearing space and that’s the primary aim. We give loads of books to charity shops and buy loads too. Getting a small amount for the books we do sell is just a way of making a modest sum back, but it’s not the primary driver.

Will check local library, thanks, hadn't thought of that.

I buy children's books from Vinted a lot. I like it as I can get items delivered to a locker which is more convenient, and can often bundle up with some secondhand clothes with no extra postage cost. But I prefer to buy used at a cheap price than pay a bit extra for brand new, ie I won't pay a premium for new books.
