I feel this is going to be good read. I read a few pages this evening. Not many as I have my children with me but I do feel this is the exact book that I’m needing right now as I’m not too long out of a DV relationship! Had anyone read it? Thoughts please?!

It's absolutely brilliant, it changed the way I saw my ex and what had happened in our relationship.

I think everyone should read it. Especially police/social workers/family court workers.

I gave my copy to a friend and never got it back but I don't mind. I hope she passed it on to somebody else who needed it.

I read it immediately on separation (once it was safe to have such a thing in my possession) but my head was still very much in the fog so didn't take much in.

Other books on the same theme I can recommend are:

Living with the Dominator - Pat Craven

The Gaslighting Effect - Reva Steenbergen

In Control: Dangerous Relationships and How They End in Murder - Jane Monckton Smith

Oh thank you! I will have to take a look at these. Did they help you a lot?

It's an excellent book. It helped me understand that he was "using his temper" rather than "losing his temper", ie, it was being done strategically to get his own way all the time.

@NeedingASafeSpace they helped me see that it was him, not me, and helped me understand the mind set of all of them, that there was nothing unusual about my situation despite my ex thinking he was so unique 🙄. It's been a long time since I read them and I'll admit it's taken a long time to heal, inasmuch as I have.

I think if your mind is still on what you've been put through and full of tangles, anything is worth trying to straighten out those tangles and come to terms with what they have done.

My biggest tip of all is to avoid them and any news of them, if at all possible. The less they are in your head the better Flowers
