What are the best of the minor Hardy novels?

The library sells used books very cheaply, and there suddenly appeared some by Thomas Hardy which haven't been snapped up yet. I looked online to see if there was some ranking, but the rankings are by fans who pretty much give them all top ratings.
Any suggestions?

I really enjoyed A Pair of Blue Eyes and A Laodicean.

I don't know what gets classified as minor, but Under the Greenwood Tree is the only Hardy I'd ever re-read for pleasure.

I like his short stories. The Withered Arm is wonderful – as good as anything M. R. James wrote.

I agree with Under the Greenwood Tree.

Another vote for A Pair of Blue Eyes.

I don't really enjoy Hardy but make an exception for Under the Greenwood Tree.

I loved Under the Greenwood Tree. I did it for GCSE or A level.

A Pair of Blue Eyes - Elfride Swancourt and her love triangle.

I love absolutely everything by Thomas Hardy, but Two on a Tower is my favourite of his minor works.

Well, I guess the major ones are Tess, Jude, Native, Casterbridge?

Hm, no real consensus here, but thanks for the input.

I did Native for "A" level, but have read Casterbridge and the Woodlanders since then. Enjoyed both.

Okay, I bought A Pair of Blue Eyes.

Not particularly excited so far.

The Woodlanders. I almost prefer it to the more well-known novels.

And Far from the madding crowd

oviraptor21 The Woodlanders is my favourite. I read it each autumn.

Of the other minor ones I like Two on a Tower, A Pair of Blue Eyes and Under the Greenwood Tree.

I loved Desperate Remedies if the library has that one. It’s beautiful!
