Anyone else addicted to buying books?

I love reading, always have. I prefer physical books to reading on kindle etc. I seem to have developed a book buying addiction. I buy way more books than I can read, to be added to my TBR pile. By 'pile', I mean bookcase(s).

Every now and then I try to get a handle on it. For example, I have started to reserve the psychological thriller type books that I am unlikely to ever read again from the library rather than buy them (although it's a pain, as they come in to the library in drips and drabs and my library has short opening hours, so i feel i'm constantly trying to work out when i can get to the library around my working hours and kids!). I also tend to buy second hand from Ebay, particularly when World of Books or similar are running a 4 for the price of 3 deal, or ask for books for birthday/Christmas presents so that I am not spending ridiculous amounts of money. But my dream is to have a huge floor to ceiling bookcase in every room of the house (will never happen) so I would love to own all the books I have ever read. I have been on holiday this week and made myself read 3 books from my TBR rather than buy anything new. Hurray! But, I have just undone my good work by spending my evening ordering a few new ones for Ebay and the library!

Anyone else have this addiction?

Also have a book buying problem- not novels but reference books
cookery, diy, anything crafty, Wood crafting, knitting, painting, you name it
A running joke as can’t go to any charity shop without coming out with some random book- have to leave space in any weekend back pack knowing may need some
space.
Piles everywhere, have to cram in more bookshelves regularly. Will occasionally
have a cull of cookbooks …
Totally fine with it- it gives me pleasure buying, I am always the go to for random advice about anything practical ( chances are I have a book about it).

It may go against the grain but I write in my books- they are mine so I can do what I will. It is amazing to find when you fancy baking something, after having a browse, only to realise you have tried it before and it was a good outcome or a ‘ this was bland and disappointing ‘.

I feel like I'm slightly addicted and am trying to stop myself from becoming full on addicted if that makes sense.
I buy books quite regularly, usually from charity shops or world of Books. I am going through them slowly as I have created a spreadsheet so that I don't end up buying double! The ones I have bought but don't plan to read as yet are ones in a series where I don't have the previous books. I am going to start reading books from the library where I am unsure whether I would want to keep it once I have finished.

Yes! It looks as if I missed your post originally.

I have a zillion titles and author names in my head, so if I run across a nice used copy cheap enough, I snap it up. Recently I've been doing something that embarrasses me: I've been buying books at the library, where they sometimes barely costs a few pennies, even gorgeous brand-new hardcovers, although I'm just as happy with scruffy paperbacks.

When I sometimes chide myself, I tell myself that it's much better than having irresistible urges to buy clothing or liquor or the latest electronics.
