Method/app to track ‘to read’ and also a good recommendation site/app

Hi, despite being generally organised and loving a list I’ve never found an effective way of keeping my “books to read” manageable and useful. Especially when I’ve bought e-books because they’ve been recommended somewhere but I then can’t remember where - so I’d really like to have a simple way of keeping some brief notes on the book - eg genre/where recommended/why I bought it!

And also, my older daughter who took a break from reading for pleasure for several years has recently started devouring books again (yay!) and I’d love to find an easy (app?) way to find other books she might like. I haven’t yet managed to get her to browse a bookshop herself which would be my first option.

Any recommendations?

Maybe you need more of a reading journal, so you can keep track and make notes, I'm sure you could make your own with any notebook.

Does she have the library app? Mine uses Borrowbox, but some use Libby, no personalised recommendations but lots of books to scroll through.

I use Storygraph though, for logging my books, but I don't use the recommended feature, so can't say how good it is.

Goodreads every time, it’s a great app!

I also use Goodreads to track my reading and keep my TBR list on. I don't do it in quite as much detail as you, but I know you can create "shelves" to put your books on.
You can find recommendations on Goodreads too. I also have signed up to Waterstones emails to find out about new releases and I listen to the BookShelfie podcast. This board is really good for recommendations. As is my local library.

Another vote for good reads although the recs can sometimes be a bit US focused.

Goodreads and Storygraph are the two I use.

Thanks. I’ll have a look at storygraph

I second Storygraph. Once you have a few books on there and reviews it will personalise blurbs for you to help you decide whether a book is for you.
