Alice Feeney - repetitive?

Just finished Rock, Paper, Scissors and enjoyed the story. The story was great and I was hooked but I did find her description of Scotland and the highlands as constantly ‘a more beautiful place I am yet to find’ a bit tiresome. I live in the highlands and wasn’t convinced she’d ever been there therefore couldn’t think of anything else to say! But I didn’t let it put me off. Then today I have just started Daisy Darker and immediately there is reference to a manuscript wrapped in brown paper and tied with string - exactly the same as the writer did in RPS. To anyone that has read more of her books, is it worth continuing or is there lots of repetition across her novels?

Also, if anyone can recommend a different author or psychological thriller novel I’m happy to hear them!

Personally I think moving quickly from one author’s book to another you’re not going to enjoy it as much as if you read a range in between, authors are generally like eg bands/ singers- they have an mo!

I haven't read Rock Paper Scissors but did enjoy Daisy Darker. I didn't actually notice anything repetitive that I can remember.

This is probably fair! I just clicked the next book on the kindle unlimited app but I will have a look for something else then return to DD at a later date. Thanks!

That’s reassuring, thanks. Love your name btw!

I thought Daisy Darker was really repetitive in its descriptions and I hated the little “I’m so wise” statements every few paragraphs 🙄🙄🙄🙄. Shame as it was a good story and well written other than that.

Yes, I read two of hers in a row then another one a few books later and they were samey. Easy to read and engaging enough.
Lisa Jewell does some good thrillers.
Lucy Foley.
Jo Spain.
