I'm dealing with tons of stress right now, finding it hard to concentrate and get into books. Please suggest me any books that will hook me from the start but are not too taxing to read.
I'm open to most genres except graphic novels and sci-fi.

I'm not sure if it would count as stress relieving, but I read a book called "a child called it" which is the story of David Pelzer, written by him. The subject isn't light as it is his abuse, and how he overcame it, but I couldn't put it down. It was captivating.

There are three books about his life. I got them for my Godson whose mother could be quite toxic. It is shocking to think what he had to put up with in those times and still lessons are not learnt.

I like Amanda Prowse or Milly Johnson.
Easy but absorbing and relatable.

There are, I've read all three. I couldn't believe what I was reading. The way people treat each other is shocking at times.

Ruth Rendell, both writing as herself and as Barbara Vine. She writes so well but also manages to do so in quite a gripping way.

Thanks everyone, I didn't expect so many replies! As there are so many suggestions I won't reply individually but I have read them all and added lots to my Kindle Wishlist.

I love Liane Moriarty or Emily Henry for an easy read.

I just read the third in a series of 3 crime novels by Clare Mackintosh that really kept me hooked- set in a small Welsh town, lots of intrigue and a bit of romance.

I second the Bee Sting, the best thing I read all last year. I also just finished a book called The Wedding People which was absolutely brilliant!
