Lord Lucan books

I just happened to catch a snippet of a radio programme or podcast (think it might've been a radio 4 one) about the murder of Sandra Rivett & the disappearance of Lord Lucan.

As I only really remember daft stories of him being spotted in the newspapers of the 80's, I'd really like to read a decent overview of the case and the theories of what happened to Lucan.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Laura Thompson's book, A Different Class of Murder is quite good. The event itself is one of the first big news stories I remember as I was ten and it was all over the TV news and the papers - as a voracious reader, I gobbled up everything I could get my hands on.

YouTube and Reddit have good information/discussions on this topic @ApocalypseNowt there's also been good documentaries done over the years not sure if they are still available to watch though. I've been down this rabbit hole a few times it's a very interesting case.

Actually, it's an awful documentary.
Really bad.

The 2013 ITV drama, Lucan, starring Rory Kinnear, is excellent.

I second the recommendation for Laura Thompson's book.

The one with the son of the woman who was murdered investigating?
I loved it.

Yes, that one. Berriman is just jumping on a bandwagon.

He was adopted at birth. Sandra Rivett didn't even bring him up.

If you like podcasts, the latest episode of Redhanded is about Lord Lucan. Such an interesting case.

Well we can agree to disagree but I don’t think the fact that he was adopted means he is any less entitled to be upset by and want to investigate his birth mother’s murder.

It was the way that he tried to make out that Sandra Rivett was Lucan's intended victim (and not Lady Lucan) which was so ludicrous.

@PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregisterYes! That is the podcast I caught...thank you. I'll listen to the rest now :)

Thank you all for the book and documentary recommendations. Really appreciate it.

Jill Dawson’s The Language of Birds is a novel drawing on Lord Lucan case.
