Namely, trashy romances. Any suggestions?

Not very modern but I was addicted to Penny Vincenzi

Sorry, when you ‘modern writers’, do you books written recently, or books set in recent times? If the latter, then my suggestion of Brigerton doesn’t fit, so apologies (but it does have the bonk-buster element you may enjoy!).

There's no-one quite like Jilly. However you might enjoy Plum Sykes or Catherine Alliott.

Louise Bagshaw is in the same spirit

Louise Bagshawe/Mensch and her sister Tilly Bagshawe very much of the same style.

Some of their books are better than others.

For Louise Bagshawe I'd avoid The Devil You Know, Monday's Child and Tuesday's Child.

I've not read any of Tilly Bagshawe's Swell Valley series but I think it was inspried by the Rutshire Chronicles - the covers are very Riders.

Fiona Walker writes with the same Jilly Cooper gusto - thickly populated villages full of strapping heroes, strong heroines, baddies getting their comeuppance, dogs and horses with individual, vivid personalities, lavish puns and witticisms. Huge books you can dive into. I love them.

Fiona Walker is very hit and miss IMO. She has written some lovely books and some that try a bit too hard to come up with a unique secret for one of the main characters' back story, so they end up being weirdly far-fetched. I wish I could remember the titles of all the ones I liked best but two of the early ones, French Relations and Kiss Chase, are my favourites. At her best she is very good indeed.
