'inspired' by the Waterstones 25% off preorders offer what books are you looking forward to this year? A new Sarah Moss (Ripeness) Hallie Rubenhold (Story of a murder) and Taylor Jenkins Reid (Atmosphere) are on my list so far...

You're reading the wrong book! Find a fun one (there are probably threads on this)

Agree with PP - unless you have to for a compulsory exam, don’t! Read what you like.

Ohisitjustme · 22/02/2025 09:54

The new Robert Galbraith
The new Karen Pirie

Lol a theme of detective novels there!

My annual Lee child and Stephen king already pre ordered on audible. I'll forget all about them and it will be a surprise when they pop up in my library.

Just received my copy of Anne Tyler's latest

I got the new Anne Tyler as a Valentine present. It's called 3 Days in June but it is so short (and so instantly readable) that it was more like 3 Hours in February...
I loved it.

Ridingthegravytrain · 22/02/2025 13:55

That's great to hear. I love Anne Tyler. I'll read it when the kids go back to school (maybe 3 hours in march haha)

BlackCatsAreBrilliant · 22/02/2025 13:56

Skandar book 5.

I would pretend it's just the DC who are desperate for it. But, being honest, I'm almost as invested.

Pick something YOU like, whether that is a novel about spies, thriller, a comedy.

Writers who use easy to understand language are good writers a lot of the time.

What interests you? Espionage? Moscow? Space? What's lacking in your life? Excitement? Travel? Where have you wanted to visit but never did? Pick a couple of books based on that criteria.

Tana433 · 23/02/2025 11:18

Catherine Cooper's new one called The Penthouse. Ive really enjoyed her other books as they are quick and easy entertaining reads. Plus the new Robert Galbraith and Lisa Jewell.

Tarquinthecat · 27/02/2025 18:42

The biography of a famous and notorious suffragette who burned down a big house and slashed up priceless painting is my 'must read'.

I've ordered it and I'm waiting for it to be delivered.

The title of the book is the name of the suffragette: 'Mary Raleigh Richardson'.

Scout2016 · 28/02/2025 09:13

I've just ordered the new Wally Lamb, The River Is Waiting. I'm excited for that.

At the start of the year I ordered Sinéad Gleeson's Hagstone which I'm looking forward to...I'd had a couple of glasses of wine and did a few additional late night pre-orders too thinking I'll have some nice surprises when they turn up.

I think I will read the new Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Dream Count.

kublacant · 28/02/2025 09:24

Waiting excitedly for Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s new book.

AliceMcV · 28/02/2025 11:01

Really looking forward to Everyone in the Group Chat Dies by LM Chilton, loved his first one!

Cassie71 · 28/02/2025 11:25

I looking forward to Sunrise on the Reaping, the next hunger games novel coming out on march 18th.

Tiddlywinkly · 08/03/2025 19:09

I've massively cut down on book buying and upped my use of the library, but I've treated myself to a gorgeous signed edition of the new Taylor Jenkins Reid one due out in June: www.waterstones.com/book/atmosphere/taylor-jenkins-reid/2928377304942

Tiddlywinkly · 08/03/2025 19:13

I'm also looking forward to Vanishing World. I might have to wait until paperback or get it on my Audible subscription as the price is a bit steep for quite a short book:https://www.waterstones.com/book/vanishing-world/sayaka-murata/ginny-tapley-takemori/9781803513454

drspouse · 08/03/2025 19:13

Robert Galbraith and now Lucy Mangan!

JellyBabiesmunch · 03/11/2025 08:12

Currently reading Wifedom
about George Orwell’s wife. Really interesting book with lots to ponder on the role of women in society and more particularly within marriage.

Divide the chapters and do one a day preferably earlier in the day so it’s done and you can move on.
‘Read’ the audiobook you can find a lot of them free from your library or even on YouTube
