A poster on one of the threads in this board mentioned that The Armourer's House was her favourite childhood book. I love a bit of innocence and imagination and read children's books every so often. Well, I'm 25 pages from the end and Iove it! No big dramas but full of imagination, imagery, love and warmth. I can't remember who the poster was but I send my thanks out to her and hope she sees this.

I thought I'd read all of Rosemary sutcliffe's books, I love them, but I don't recall seeing this one.

I've never read that one but The Eagle of the Ninth is one of my all time favourites.

I just finished Smith by Leon Garfield which I read in Yr9 English at school. At the time I didn't love it but reading it over Christmas it was great!

I still reread many childhood books now and then. The recent thread about Tom's Midnight Garden was really nice.

I love The Armourer's House so much! Such a brilliant evocation of life in Tudor London.

It was one of my favourite books as a child as well- it’s just magical. I’m always amazed more people haven’t heard of it as I’ve reread it so often!

I loved The Queen Elizabeth Story as well.

Ahh I loved this book as a child, it’s still on my shelf and I think I might need to do a re-read!

A lovely book, one I enjoyed a lot as a child.
