So I read a lot, mostly thrillers/romance type stuff. DH hasn't read a book voluntarily since the later Harry Potter books.

We were talking about it recently and we were thinking of picking a book and both reading it, then opening a bottle of wine and discussing it.

Any recommendations? I'm not opposed to non-fiction either!

Aw! That sounds like such a lovely idea! I'm sure you'll get tons of recommendations but I think Jonathan Coe is always good for books anyone will enjoy and with lots to discuss. They're all brilliant but very different in their own ways so maybe have a browse. Also be aware that some you need to read in order, while others stand alone. DH and I both read and enjoyed Bournville and Middle England.

If you wanted to start with something short, when I first 'went back to reading' having had tiny kids, I started with Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan. It's really short but there's loads to think about. And there's a film of it just out so you could always have a cinema date night after your book group with wine!
