I have to provide a book each for 6 people. Has to be fiction. All are readers. Aged 23 to 65. All have varied interests-except one, who is a history nut who likes "war" stuff. Two like feminist literature. One like spies.

Not too heavy or too long because they are for reading over Christmas. But not too light either. What's the last book you loved? Oh, and paperback, please?

Ben Elton Time and Time Again
It's about a man who travels back in time to prevent WW1 but the events of the 1920s are not easily put off track. I thought it was brilliant. It ticks the war and the spy box. It's not feminist literature though

I want fictional law books please, sorry op but great typo! Even if unintentionally done

Have a look at Steve Cavanagh. Thirteen seems v popular but is actually 4th in a series. I've started at #1 (The Defence) and am about to finish - not my usual thing but loving it.

Actually, I never re-read so if you felt comfortable PMing an address, I'd happily pop it in the post. Part of the joy of reading for me is to pass that joy onto someone else when I'm finished 🩵

Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver was incredible.

An Officer and a Spy - would suit the history nut and the spy guy - historical fiction about a Jewish officer arrested and exiled in France for spying and the quest to clear his name (based on a true story). Act of Oblivion is similar, about tracking down some of the people who signed off on Charles I’s execution.

Always recommend The Elegant Gathering of White Snows as uplifting feminist fiction - a group of female friends go on a walking trip.

And Stella Rimington (a real life former M) wrote a series of spy fiction with a female central character, the first few of these were good.
