Actually - no spoilers because I couldn't finish this. I tried skim reading as I got so bored with her being in an impenetrable locked office and the ludicrous over writing about her sweating etc that I just had to give up.

It's probably my general grumpiness as lots of other people have given this book 5 stars (which I could not understand at all Grin) but please could someone who has read it explain why it all happened in a brief summary? I've tried Google and can't find review with spoilers....

Thank you very much in advance and apologies for slagging off the book - but just not my cup of tea.

I read this quite a while ago.

I struggled on to the end but I can't tell you what happened-I think a brother or a male friend comes along to the building and I think her husband isn't really dead-her predicament is because of him- but don't take this as gospel!

It was preposterous tosh.

I couldn't understand the fabulous reviews either. I gave it two stars on Good Reads, as I reserve one star for those books I don't finish.

I read it and hated it. It was just so stupid and implausible! No idea where the five stars came from.

Haha. I should have looked at reviews on Goodreads and not Amazon 🥴

Couldnt understand those saying it was well written and exciting. Three full pages describing how she didn’t smash the glass with a fire extinguisher did it for me

His writing is excruciating isn't it? I attempted House Hunt and it took someone multiple chapters to go upstairs, he's on my never read again list.

@ObtuseMoose completely agree - and I like a lengthy description - if it's well done. I'm thinking Dickens or Tolkien ...not CM Ewan Grin
