Bring Up The Bodies - so long! I won't be done by Christmas!

One Day - David Nichols. Charity shop buy and a bit worse for wear. I think I used to like him? What else did he write?

Blast from the Past - Ben Elton. No idea why this is in the pile. I used to like him but I don't think I do any more.

Water for Elephants - Sara Gruen - is this good?

Bird Life - Anna Smail. A gift. Looks quite good? A quiet, gentle book.

A Short History of Tractors in Ukrain - I think I've read it.

Billy Bird - Emma Neale - started this. Not grabbing me.

Hold Tight - Harlan Coben.

It's not the fault of the books. It's me. Nothing is grabbing me.

@YellowphantGrey glad to know I'm not alone! But we have to support the library. 😁

Ours are at risk at being closed down so I like to think I'm doing my bit 😂

I raided my son's bookshelf and am now reading Human Universe by Brian Cox.

Will do Bring up the Bodies next. I did love the first one but it took me ages.

I have a pile which I assign numbers and when I finish one book I do a Random Number Generator . This forces me to pick a book and not agonise over choosing/keep rejecting books. It works!

It's years since I read Water For Elephants but I remember really liking it.

Mantel a much more serious , challenging read but brilliant. Short History of Tractors light, fun and enjoyable to read : but you say you have actually read it, anyway!

Oh, and The Secret Life of Bees- loved that too. And I'm hard to please as well. If you like those old southern type reads. Excellent writer

I've got half way through and given up. I haven't given up on a book in ages. Does it get any less depressing?

I think so. I felt happy reading it some way in. I think more than anything I liked the writer's style, but maybe that's just me

But you know the world, and the characters now -- you may glide through this one! I envy you not having read it! I've been postponing rereading all three because it will be the first time I've read them through Mantel died, and I remain selfishly sad she's no longer able to give us more work.

Suzanne's diary for Nicholas by James patterson is a really good easy read.

Ah perhaps that's why I wasn't enjoying it as much, i dosing feel her writing flowed quite as good as it could have.

I'm sure I've read something from Brian Cox. He's full of wonder, isn't he ?

I listened to it on Audible in bed, it lulled me to sleep. So I would have missed some of it, and was only following loosely. Combined with the narrator's voice it was nice
