Due to various circumstances I’m struggling to concentrate on reading at the moment but I can managing to read a diary style book such as Diary of a Book Seller or Adrian Mole. Can anyone recommend a similar style of book with short bites that I can easily manage without feeling overwhelmed?

Guernsey potato peel pie literary society - in letter rather than diary form, but you could read one letter at a time

Ladies of Letter - Jane Gardam

The "Tales of the City" books were originally newspaper columns. The first 3 (of 6) are published in thiis format.

Love, Nina - the correspondence between a Yorkshire girl who goes to work as a nanny for an affluent London family and her family.

You could have a crack at Janice Hallett. Her crime books are assembled dossier style. Amazing how good the characterisation and plotting can be through a bunch of emails. Start with The Appeal. There's a pleasingly dreadful person in it.

If you're happy to read older books, my favourite comfort reads are 'Diary of a nobody' and ' Diary of a provincial woman'.

Thank you all. I’m adding these recommendations to my list.

Diary of a Nobody is an absolute hoot, I'm convinced Sue Townsend was a fan!

Ooh yes, definitely Janice Hallet.

And if you like them, she's got a new one coming out next week👀
