Books told through texts?

Inspired by another thread about trying to read when you have a ridiculously short attention span.

I’m getting back into reading after a long absence. Just finished The Drink Shrink by Zoe McCann and loved the text-message format. Also enjoyed There’s Been a Little Incident by Alice Ryan, which is a mixture of prose and texts but the prose bits are super short and easily digestible.

Wondering if anyone can recommend some other novels told primarily through texts or in the same vein?

I promise I do actually have a brain, I just need some ‘gateway’ books to get it working again 😂

Have a look at The Appeal by Janice Hallett - largely told through emails. If you like that her others are similar. Cara Hunter’s Murder In The Family is told through TV show transcripts.

Thank you! Will check them out. Love the idea of the transcripts!

Life on the Refrigerator Door by Alice Kuiper is told in note style (i.e. notes left on the fridge door)

This sounds right up my street too, thank you 🙏

I also really enjoyed The Drink Shrink!

Not exactly what you asked for, but if you haven’t already read The Shock Of The Fall, it uses lots of different sources to tell the story - it does have prose sections, but they’re kind of broken up iyswim? Years since I read it but I remember enjoying the format.

It captured the whole online dating scene very accurately @Plinkle, well my experience of it anyway 😂

The Shock of the Fall, what a brilliant book! I read it years ago and had forgotten all about it. Will have to dig it out again and reread.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions 😊

Daisy and the Six - not emails but may suit you.

Patricia Fisher mysteries - Steve Higgs - cosy mysteries with short chapters. Easy to read and enjoyable. May suit you.

Omg amazing, thank you, I've just seen there are 10 Patricia Fisher books so that's me sorted for a while!

So many good suggestions on this thread, thanks to all of you 🤗

Just remembered another option - Matt Beaumont has written some books set in an office of a ad agency, told entirely through emails, texts and blogs. I haven’t read them though so don’t know if they’re any good!
