I loved the entire thing.
I was disappointed by the ending, but decided I was expecting it to be too tied up.

Me too, v let down by the end.

Did think it was a bit unlikely that he'd have got into the police force without them doing enough background checks to know about the change of identity though? (If i'm thinking about the right book, have read a lot of potboiling thrillers lately.)

TheCoderator · 13/04/2008 12:00

eys freaky
a dn SHE was a bit ana freil ish in her perky ness

turquoise · 13/04/2008 12:01

Thought it was well written though, particularly the woman sarge/that whole relationship.

StealthPolarBear · 13/04/2008 12:01

Yes that's the one, and that did occur to me as well - surrounded by detectives and not one knew that! Didn't he keep his surname as well?

OP posts:
TheCoderator · 13/04/2008 12:01

oh the woman sareg was annoying.

turquoise · 13/04/2008 12:04

I think I might like that Anna Freil dead thing last night, haven't fully made my mind up yet. Missed the beginning too, which doesn't help.

StealthPolarBear · 13/04/2008 12:04

well I liked it! Raspberries to you all

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 13/04/2008 12:04

Anna Friel thing?

OP posts:
turquoise · 13/04/2008 12:07

Sorry - off at a tangent - Pushing Daisies. Cod's mention of Ana Freil ish perkiness (the psycho? I presume) sent me off.

StealthPolarBear · 13/04/2008 12:08

oh she meant the psycho? I thought she meant cassie?

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 13/04/2008 12:08

was that her name?

OP posts:
turquoise · 13/04/2008 12:10

I can't remember! I thought the psycho was perky though - but have to be honest saw it coming a mile off. Have read too many, but still thought it was mostly pretty good.

BugBearisBugBear · 15/04/2008 22:08

I liked it, and I hate detective books.

BugBearisBugBear · 15/04/2008 22:09

So there

StealthPolarBear · 15/04/2008 22:12

good for you!
Shall we form a clique?

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 15/04/2008 22:12

What made you read it in the first place?

OP posts:
BugBearisBugBear · 15/04/2008 22:32

The times book club told me to read it, so i did. (suggestible)

It had to end as it did, or it'd be too unbelievable. The psycho character was dodgy though, the teenage girl. Didn't believe in her.

we could start the 'only Bears allowed' bookclub

StealthPolarBear · 15/04/2008 22:39

at the Bears Bookclub!
What do you mean, too unbelievable?

BugBearisBugBear · 16/04/2008 07:58

If it was all the loose ends were tied up nicely at the end, I don't think it would have worked. As it was you never really knew what'd happened when he was a kid.

Shame about Cassie getting together with Sam instead of the main guy. Though you can see why really!

Was a bit unlikely I suppose that he would have made it into the police force. Presumably they do checks on backgrounds...

Overall, tho, a really page-turner, very enjoyable.

BugBearisBugBear · 16/04/2008 07:59

Enjoyed the Anna Friel thing too

saltire · 16/04/2008 08:10

I read it and thought the ending was pants. It started off well enough though

BugBearisBugBear · 16/04/2008 08:17

There's a sequel coming out in August, is why the ending was so dodge: to make you buy the next one in the hope that it'll end better this time round.

saltire · 16/04/2008 08:19

Will the sequel tell us what really happened in the woods when whatisface was a child?
