Anyone want to discuss this with me?!

I've listened to the audiobook and enjoyed it very much. But I don't understand what we are to make of the ending, unless I've missed something in the listen.

How does Joanna know about Billy and what do we think is the significance of the nursery rhyme they sing together at the end?

Are we to believe that decker really did shoot himself? And how on earth would the papers have got swapped?

Clearly it's not a coincidence that Jackson became re involved with Joanna but how did he know to be in the right place at the right time...

Many threads to tie up in my mind!

I read it years ago so can’t help with those details unfortunately! Love the Jackson Brodie series though!

I've read it, enjoyed it, forgotten everything about it unfortunately so am of no use to you but you looked a bit lonely on this thread. Someone else will be along shortly.

Also read this years ago and absolutely can't remember what happened - so no help to you I'm afraid! Kate Atkinson's plots are very very clever - and the way everything ties together is genius.

Planning to read them all again before the new Jackson Brodie comes out later on the year.

As we Kate Atkinson fans all seem to be suffering from memory loss, I spotted the Case Histories tv series on a freeview channel the other day. In keeping with the memory loss, I didn't note which channel it was, either UKTVPlay or ItvX I think.

OP this is my favourite Jackson Brodie book. I just love the two strong female characters and the choices Joanna makes at the end. I can't remember the final details though sorry!

Is there a new one coming out? Brilliant!

Love all the Jackson Brodies . But read this at least 10 years ago so can't remember the plot. Am tempted to reread it now!
Big Sky was also a favourite.

Looking forward to the new one.

I can't remember and I only re-listened to them all a couple of years ago but pleased to hear there's going to be another one.

Civilservant · 15/05/2024 22:35

Read this years ago but don’t remember a damn thing! Except the title. Sorry to be of no help.

Have now reread the book . Am still much none the wiser.

The nursery rhyme - there is a general theme of nursery rhymes and Joanna does mention earlier on that a lot of nursery rhymes are disturbing. This one mentions a crow flying away to avoid being shot which mirrors the plot line of her running to safety.

How did she know about Billy? Only a guess but she may have done a background check on Reggie (possibly via the gp medical database) and discovered her dodgy brother that way ??

Really enjoyed rereading it - only written in 2008 but things have changed loads since then.

Anyway KAs website says that the upcoming Brodie book has Reggie as his sidekick, so really looking forward to that.

I give in. Read your summary, still can't remember anything about it - unless it's the one with the lurking German Shepherd dog? Well done, that dog 🐕 - I'm going to have to read again.

Can’t remember the answers but I bloody love this book! Think it’s so well written and at times heartbreaking.

Reggie is in her last Brodie book - the one about women being trafficked, can’t remember its name. It’s also a good but difficult read!

I know this is an old post, but I've just finished this book and immediately searched Google for an explanation of the ending!
