Decided to read every day

Thinking about all the unread books in the house and how I just end up on the internet.
I'm going to set a phone reminder everyday and do 9-9.30pm like homework.
Am reading (haha) Alice Carrierie Everything Nothing Someone but haven't picked it up for weeks.

I've joined a real life book club. I tried Litsy and Good Reads but not really into them.

I set myself the same challenge about 6 months ago for the same reasons.
I started just amkig sure I read a bit every day, I also dnf quite a few books, waited until 1 gripped me.
I found the kind of books I like had changed and now have a healthy wish list and tbr pile.
I read 14 books last year with most being in the latter half. I've really got into it this year though and my attention span is back and the lure of my ohone/online is nowhere near as strong. I'd rather read than watch TV or scroll. I've already read 20 books this year. It doesn't matter how many bit just to illustrate its definitely a habit and skill you cam regain.

Well done! I'm really struggling to adopt the habit, I think I started with an ambitious one which has proved quite difficult to wade through.

Leave it for now and start something a but easier

Yes I'm going back to my book pile. I have just forced myself to finish it on the train. Yay!
Next one will be an easy one I want to read not a difficult one with challenging themes (Everything, Nothing, Someone by Alice Carriere)

Reading is like gardening, every little bit helps. Just read every day, even if it's just for 5 minutes. Build up to the big difficult books, you need to develop your reading muscles so don't worry about reading difficult classic novels, read whatever you fancy and feel free to give up on a book if it doesn't grab you in 50 pages.

I was the same. I used to be such a bookworm and I was a bit depressed at how hard it was to get back into proper reading.

Keep at it, it gets easier. You just have to choose really gripping books to read.
