Hello

I have a kindle which I use all the time, but am wondering whether I should invest in an ereader that I can check out library books on? Does anyone do this and if so, what do you use? Do you find that mosy books are available to borrow? Thanks.

I use my iPad to use BorrowBox to borrow books from the library

I also use an ipad with Borrowbox and Libby which are both available for my local library. They have slightly different range of books on each so I flit between them. New books and audio books seem to be added relatively regularly.

I’m another one who uses my iPad mini to read library books through BorrowBox. I also have the Kindle App on my iPad so I read books I have bought as well on my iPad - in fact I never use my Kindle at all!

I just use my phone (an old Iphone) - I do like my Kindle better normally but 2 years ago my eyesight suddenly deteriorated very sharply and I had to have cataract surgery, and I found that while I was waiting for the first eye to be done, ebooks on my phone were easier to read than Kindle books (paper books were just too hard to read).

Kobo e-reader for downloading from your library.

I have a Likebook which has the paper ink effect thing, and you download apps on to it so you can use Kindle and BorrowBox (and others!)

I have to use a tablet to download E-Books from Libby. I would so much prefer if you can download Libby books to the Kindle. (Apparently its a function of Libby in the USA) but not the UK. The other issue (for me) is that there are limited books available as e- books from the library. If you are following a series its rare they have all the books in the series. It's for that reason IMHO that Amazon dominates this market

I have a kobo, but it's a few years old so if I was buying a new one, I would do some fresh research. If your library uses libby/overdrive it has the advantage that books sync to it automatically when borrowed on the app. My library changed to borrowbox, which means that books have to be transferred from laptop to reader via a cable like we used to 10 years ago!
Saying that I am a member of about 4 libraries so make it work!
