The Making of Another Motion Picture Masterpiece - stick with it or quit?

I've been trying to read with on and off for a couple of months now. I'm about a quarter of the way in but it's not pulling me in as much as I'd hoped. Anyone read it? What do you think, persevere or quit while I'm ahead? Thanks!

Not read it but it sounds like you've given enough of a go. I take a while to get into a book sometimes but that sounds too much effort

I tend to follow advice I picked up from Goodreads - if you've read 50 (or 100 if it's a big book) pages and are not enjoying the book, stop. It's good advice, and has stopped me struggling on to the end with books I just don't like. There's plenty more out there 📚

The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece review – Tom Hanks’s ambitious, myth-busting novel | Fiction | The Guardian

So much of it is waiting around; three days sitting in a trailer for a minute or two of drama that might end up in a digital suite trash can. This novel, if nothing else, gives you a sense of that experience in real time
Burn! Grin

Seriously though, I struggled with the plot summarised in the review, let alone the real thing. Would much prefer Tom to have kept the title then talked about each movie he's made and any Brew on each production and co-star.
The above sounds like a snoozefest. Give it to charity OP and read something more entertaining. I absolve you! Wink

I loved it! In fact I'll buy it in paperback for a reread.

I think if you aren’t interested, you aren’t interested. The plot is basically that they make another motion picture masterpiece. It’s not just a setting for some other sort of story that might draw you in. You’re either going to enjoy reading about making a movie or you aren’t! I did quite enjoy it, but can easily see the other point of view.

Thanks for replying everyone, I think I may give this one up. I noticed its available via Libby on audio so I may give it a bash again in the future in that format instead.
