Recently joined audible but I'm not good at picking the books.
I like contemporary fiction and thrillers up to a point.
Any one enjoyed something they can recommend?

On a recent Between the Covers episode they mentioned how good Alex Jennings was at narrating The Light of Day by Graham Swift. They all agreed it wasn't one of Swift's best and someone said it could have been cropped by about a third. Jennings has narrated other Swift books (Waterland
and Mothering Sunday) or you could do a search of other books he has narrated as there is quite a selection.

I'm currently working my way through the rivers of London series, they are beautifully narrated.

Lessons in Chemistry is brilliant.

The Robert Galbraith books are very good audio books.

My absolute favourite is the Martian.

Lisa Jewell None of this is true read by the fabulous Nicola Walker

Very different but I also loved Andy Weir Project Hail Mary. I would arrive at the office and not want to get out of the car!

Malignant by Anita Walker sort of light contemporary sort of thriller set in Sheffield in 2017. This is currently free in the Plus catalog so nothing to loose.

Paper Cup by Karen Campbell really draws you into the story. Great narration.

Mother Neighbour Russian Spy

Lessons in Chemistry

None of this is True

Beside Myself by Ann Morgan - I have relistened to this twice already and I never normally revisit anything!

The Memory Shop, The People
on Platform 5, Mother Sun, The Midnight Library

I listen to the sample and check the narrator gets and keeps my attention before committing to a choice as I like to listen and do other things. For me this is important as otherwise I loose track and it’s not so easy to skip
back a bit as with a paper book.

Water by John Boyne - beautifully read by Niamh Cusack.

Lessons in Chemistry is very marmite. I didn't enjoy it at all.

Good ones that are free with your audible membership...
Everyday sexism
Men who hate women
A year living danishly.
And they have a lot of classic literature narrated by top names for free.

Using credits...
Bill Bryson "The body" and a "short history..."
Andrew Marrs "history of the world" and "Making of modern Britain"
Van talkekan "Ultra processed people" (best wait until after Christmas to listen to that one).
