I can't wait.....I have a pile of books waiting to be read and they all look so good! Just wondering what everyone has on their to-read list?

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
The Sorrows of an American
One Good Turn
The Eyre Affair

Dorasboots - how weird, just returned Rebecca to the library having read it for the 2nd time! Couldn't remember it from the 1st as it was years ago and absolutely loved it. You won't get much else done once you've started it, I can promise you that!

Didn't I say I had my fingers in my ears ?

Seriously, I found Hey Nostradamus hard enough... DS1 is already angst-ridden at nearly 9 and I have enough things to berate myself about in my parenting without adding "potential high-school killer" to the list.

Good tip about Ebay, Squilly (though bugger - forgot to list anything. And I'd marked the email with a star and everything).

I cleared off my bedside table as I was building a skyscraper of books which was threatening to topple. I always read about 3-4 books at a time so there are books all over the place (drives dp mad!)

Bedside table (now removed to be replaced with a new pile of books!)

John Betjeman's bio (AN Wilson)
Michael Palins Diaries
Letters between Mitford Sisters
London in the 19th Century
A book about council estates (can't remember title or author, bloody good book though)
Katharine Hepburn Remembered by F Scott Berg
Oliver Twist
Polo by Jilly Cooper

Pile of books in the loo !

Assasins Cloak (diary anthology)
Alan Clark Diaries (Into Politics)
On Royalty by Jeremy Paxman
Alliance (author forgotten) about Churchill, Stalin and Rooselevelt
Charlie Wilson's War (haven;t started this one yet)
Plus last week's Grazia.

GOML, is that council estates book by Lindsay something? It sounded good if a bit grim.

Flossie - yes THAT'S it, Estates by Linsey Hanley. It's a really excellent, well written book (she grew up on a council estate and lives in a tower block now, so written from a personal POV as well). Really recommend it.

We're looking for everyone's Unsung Heroes/Heroines for April's Mumsnet Book of the Month selection - books you love that aren't very well known, or writers who don't seem to have the recognition they deserve.

If anyone fancies putting forward a personal favourite do pop it up here
