1000 replies

Southeastdweller · 13/06/2023 12:34

Welcome to the sixth thread of the 50 Books Challenge for this year.

The challenge is to read fifty books (or more!) in 2023, though reading fifty isn't mandatory. Any type of book can count, it’s not too late to join, and please try to let us all know your thoughts on what you've read.

The first thread of the year is here, the second one here, the third one here here, the fourth one here and the fifth one: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/what_were_reading/4793238-50-books-challenge-2023-part-five?page=20&reply=126860721

What are you reading?

Thank you, southeast. We are powering through the threads this year!
I find when I repost my list, my view of what is bold changes - there are a couple I have bolded on my saved list that I can't even remember reading. I have a couple I've not reviewed yet, and am working my way through Bring Up the Bodies. I can't decide if my slow pace is dread of what is to come, weariness at what must be well over a thousand pages of Tudor intrigue at this point across the three books or fear of it ending. Perhaps all three!

I think you know whilst everyone here is A Reader, me Chessie and Fortuna are perhaps in need of professional medical intervention Grin

Grin The funniest thing is that before I first joined the thread, I used to wonder "how on earth do these people manage to read 50 books in a year?"

For the first few years I used to watch in awe at the 100±ers while I struggled to make the 50. Chessie was like an Olympian, or the only other explanation was witchcraft. Wink

I only manage it with audiobooks. I'm quite miffed if my book club choose something only available on paper. I'm like, "you expect me to hold it and read it with my eyes while sitting still?" It's an outrage and I swear they do it on purpose.

@FortunaMajor

I don't really understand how I've become a power reader. I've incorporated audiobooks in and if it's <400 that's 2 evenings and done, but in reality I rarely read until after 9pm and it's a 2 hr window it's just how my day goes so I've got no idea why I'm having such a strong year

Please may I join?

I'm currently reading How To Kill Your Family.

I think I've read 12 books so far this year. I'm trying to do the A-Z challenge as well.
