What else might I like?!

I’ve read all of the Shardlake and Outlander books as well-I like historical/time travel with a bit of comedy if that helps!

Try Ankaret Wells, Anna Chronistic And The Scarab of Destiny.

Not the same but there’s a significant overlap between Jodi Taylor fans and pratchett fans, and Ben Aaronovitch for that matter.

Have you read Stranger Times? I agree with Rivers of London.
How about the Laundry Filies?

NellietheNumpty · 04/06/2023 19:45

Laundry Files.

Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman.

There is nothing else quite like The Chronicles of St Mary's, but I recently enjoyed Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries, by Heather Fawcett.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 06/06/2023 00:27

The Thursday Next series possibly

nocoolnamesleft · 08/06/2023 22:33

I don't think the Thursday Next series is as good as Chronicles of St Mary's, but it does have dodos.... And there is clearly a big crossover in fans, seeing that Jasper Fforde was a guest author at the Jodiworld Con.

Lindsey Davi’s has a huge similarity even though her books are set in AnI read two Thursday Next and gave up but I do love the Ben Aaronovitch books. Different to Jodi Taylor but great fun.

Lindsey Davis’s books have a similar style and feel even if set in Ancient Rome. Same jokey Dramatis Personae for a start.

You could try The Quantum Curator series.

NellietheNumpty · 13/06/2023 17:31

Thanks for the Emily Wilde recommendation up thread . I am really enjoying it.

It's great, isn't it? Not really the same genre as Jodi Taylor's work, but somehow elicits similar feelings in me.

EyeSpyPlumPie · 13/06/2023 22:18

Eva St John (the Quantum Curators) or Genevieve Cogman (Invisible Library) but there’s nothing quite like St Mary’s.

deeplybaffled · 13/06/2023 23:33

Maybe the Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger?

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 17/06/2023 17:33

FYI. New st Mary’s on the 22 June I think !!!!!

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 17/06/2023 17:34

@MamaNewtNewt I was so disappointed. They finally did them in audiobook which is how in read. And the narrator was awful!!!!
