Not sure this was the right place to post, but if anyone can recommend a podcast that might interest me, that would be great. I like reading History books, fiction and non fiction. Tudor queens....monarchy....something like that. I've searched but only found topics like WWs

Not just the tudors is fantastic.

Boopear · 31/05/2023 11:22

The Rest is History - funny and informative.

Alargeoneplease89 · 31/05/2023 11:26

Following ... have just started listening to You are dead to me but looking for better opinions

Littlesprouts · 31/05/2023 11:36

Lots of good specialist podcasts from History Hit, including a Tudor one:

Merchantadventurer · 31/05/2023 11:39

Not just the Tudors is really good. Talking Tudors is ok but not as good as not just the Tudors.

The History extra podcast is also good and has a fair bit of Tudor stuff and has just done a series on all the Tudor queens.

Iminpatchinghell · 31/05/2023 11:48

You’re dead to me on BBC sounds is brilliant! Lots of topics. They usually have a comedian on as a panel member so it’s funny and memorable.

highlandcoo · 31/05/2023 14:13

Thanks for the podcast recommendations. I've just listened to the Katharine of Aragon episode on History Extra. I didn't learn a lot of new information but it was still excellent.

I find the Tudors endlessly interesting and am working my way through Alison Weir's series on the six wives. Three down three to go!

HowardKirksConscience · 02/06/2023 22:16

The Rest is History - they have covered all sorts and are constantly interesting and amusing. There is something to interest everyone.

@Iminpatchinghell you're dead to me is AMAZING!

I really like talking tudors but will be checking out not just the tudors now!

Revisionist history is interesting too.

StColumbofNavron · 08/06/2023 16:28

Empire by William Dalrymple and Anita Anand is getting food reviews, I haven't managed to tune it yet.

JaninaDuszejko · 10/06/2023 14:10

Migrations about the British experience of migration through history I found fascinating, I'd highly recommend it. Otherwise another vote for You're Dead to Me which I love.

I love The rest is history, Empire is another good historical one.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 10/06/2023 14:15

David Starkey is the go to on the Tudors. On you tube.

NoraLuka · 10/06/2023 14:18

I love you’re dead to me, I’ve learned so much from it and they make all the topics interesting. I’ve found I remember what I’ve heard as well, which isn’t always the case with other podcasts.

Also In our time - that’s more serious but also interesting.

Hernamewaslola1 · 10/06/2023 14:18

The Empire podcast - realty well presented. The first season is about the British in India and then subsequent seasons cover the Ottoman Empire, Israel and Palestine etc

FettleOfKish · 10/06/2023 14:21

I like Dan Snow's History Hit and the History Extra podcast. Also Stuff you missed in History class.

You're dead to me as already mentioned of course.

I also enjoy Betwixt The Sheets which is social history, on the subjects of sex, scandal, celebrity, society etc. Some tough subjects but also some lighter ones. It's very funny too.

ElinorDashwood68 · 10/06/2023 14:30

I'm currently listening to Season 1 Dan Jones This is History starting with The Plantagenets

MissEDashwood19 · 10/06/2023 14:51

History Extra and History Hit (and its affiliated podcasts) are brilliant. I'd also recommend Tudor Dynasty, it is hosted by an American but has a lot of British historians on it. I have also dipped in and out of Dan Jones' podcast.

lulubelle1977 · 10/06/2023 22:00

Sounds perfect I'll look into them

Ladykillers by Lucy Worsley - I'm really enjoying it.

UsethisUsername · 10/06/2023 22:10

A Dynasty To Die For by Dan Jones is fantastic

DelphiniumBlue · 10/06/2023 22:24

The British History podcast is fantastic, really detailed but also entertaining - goes from Stone Age to ... I think currently up to Tudor times?

Figrolls14 · 10/06/2023 22:28

I love Dead to Me and In Our Time - endless variety, 1000s of episodes on bbc sounds!
