Leading on from another thread I started, someone recommended Alison Weir books.

If you've read her books, which would you recommend to start with. The six queens are popular but as I've read many Phillipa Gregory ones, I didn't want to read about them. Someone new...maybe Elizabeth of York? Any advise?

Or her non-fiction ones? Another thread said they were excellent.

Her non fiction books are great. I liked The Princes in the Tower which led to a good natured argument with my Granny-in-law over whether Richard was a wrong 'un or not. Eleanor of Aquitaine, Queens of the Conquest and Isabella She Wolf of France are also particularly good. I also frequently use Britain's Royal Families to check who is who.

I was thinking of reading these too after seeing Six the Musical (which is awesome btw). Are they fairly easy to read? My brain can't do serious books these days.

I think they are pretty accessible and not too scholarly.

Innocent Traitor is wonderful. I’ve read it multiple times.

I was slightly disappointed with the Six Queens series.

Really readable. I enjoy Alison Weir far more than Phillipa Gregory. I liked Katherine Swynford and for fiction, Innocent Traitor.

I love Alison Weir. She also writes actual history books as well as the historical fiction. I love then all. But Eleanor of Aquitaine is probably my favourite.
