We have a veeeeerrrry long car journey coming up but our kids love a good audiobook thankfully.

Any recommendations - ideally long ones?! Eldest is a girl and youngest boy if that makes any difference at all.

His Dark Materials?
A Phil Earle perhaps
Harry Potter might be another one you could look into

Boy children here. They've unexpectedly been taken with the little house on the prairie.

The wizards of once series. or how to train your dragon. both very entertaining. read by David tenant.

my DS really enjoyed the chronicles of ancient darkness series, starting with wolf brother.

he also liked Abi Elphinstone audiobooks.

And the nevermoor books are great too.

SquidwardBound · 21/03/2023 22:08

The polar bear explorers club books are also quite entertaining.

Yet more…

The last wild series is great.

As are the septimus heap books

and Garth nix’s keys to the kingdom
series is good for primary school children.

Swallows and Amazons
Interview with a robot
Ice dogs

I have a 10yo who adores audiobooks and these are some of our favourites this year.

I second the David Tenant / how to train your dragon recommendation. It's hilarious. Kate Winslett reading Matilda is utterly brilliant. Michael Sheen reading the prequel to His Dark Materials is also fab and Andy a Serkis has done the whole of the Lord of the Rings. I'd search by narrator as well as book as a poor reading of a great book is upsetting frankly.

Another vote for How to train your dragon series, brilliantly read by David Tennant.

Also Just William, very funny, I enjoyed them as an adult too!

Harry Potter is good too, although you may not enjoy them as much as your children.
