Recommendations for a book series please?

I love thriller/crime and currently going through the LJ Ross, DCI Ryan series.

But I also like funny/rom com type of books too so looking for a series for that.

Thanks in advance!

Have you read any Marian Keyes novels? She has written the Walsh family series that might appeal. Not really rom com though, and do touch on some hard subjects, but there's a lot of humour in there too.

Seven Sisters series - Lucinda Riley
Chronicles of St Mary’s - Jodie Tyler
Brigerton

Have you read any Elly Griffiths, she has several series based on crime.

If you like crime, Peter May has two good series - The Lewis Trilogy which consists of The Blackhouse, The Lewis Man and The Chessmen, and also six books set in China which you'll find on Amazon as The China Thrillers.

Anne Cleeves' Shetland books are an awful lot better than the series makes them out to be and I think there are 8 of those, starting with Raven Black.

As above, Jodi Taylor's The Chronicles of St Mary's are hugely enjoyable and there are lots of those plus The Time Police spin-offs and a 3 book series of supernatural thrillers which are... quirky...

@mimbleandlittlemy Funny you should mention The Lewis trilogy -just started reading it and enjoying it so far.

Not exactly thriller/crime, but you may enjoy Mick Herron's Slough House books (look up the order). They're spy thrillers and darkly funny. I'm a huge fan despite not liking political thrillers or spy stories!

Oh yes - second the Slough House books. Glad you are enjoying The Blackhouse so far, Riverlee.

Helen Cox
Kelley Armstrong's Rockton series
Kerry Greenwood's Miss Fisher series
LJ Ross (Northumberland setting)
Ngaio Marsh
Patricia Wentworth
Peter Robinson
Robert Galbraith (not "easy" reading)

Simon McCleave
Other things for easy reading
the Don Camillo stories

I don't read a lot of crime/thriller but I really enjoy the DCI Steve Burt Mysteries by John Reid

Justcashnosweets · 09/03/2023 20:34

The DCI Jack Logan series by JD Kirk are brilliant.
Also the DCI Grimm series by David J Gatward.

Another vote for Jodi Taylor. Everything she writes is amazing, but especially love the Chronicles of St Marys.
